Avery Safford, MS

Masters Level Clinician

Avery is a former collegiate field hockey player who has been in the counseling field for 2 years. After graduating from the University of Richmond, Avery coached field hockey at the high school and club level, along with squash and lacrosse. From many years of participating in sports, both as an athlete and as a coach, she has firsthand experience of the challenges and successes that come from being an athlete. As someone who has had to overcome a season-ending injury, Avery has a personal understanding of the recovery process, and how to stay resilient during those challenging times. Avery shares her excitement about working with athletes who are invested in their own mental health journey while developing a sense of self and identity through the process.

Trevor Sasek, MS, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Trevor is a former collegiate football player and has been in the counseling field for almost 5 years. He battled injuries for the majority of his career, causing challenges in feeling like he could return and meet his expectations of performing on the field. Trevor says that understanding the unique lifestyle of an athlete provides individuals he works with an opportunity to relate, connect, and develop their identity of who they are outside of sports. His experience with a career-ending injury and understanding of the lifestyle has fueled his passion to work with current and former athletes.

Meagan Yates, PhD, LPC

Psychologist

Meagan is a former collegiate soccer player and has been in the counseling field for 7 years. She experienced challenges with how her athletic career ended and often shares how the ending impacted her feelings of being excited about moving into her career. Having experienced her own difficulties, Meagan is truly excited to have found a role where she can use her time in athletics to connect with and support others as they begin to focus on their mental health and well-being.
